Sirte, 22 June 2022 (Lana) The head of Parliament-assigned Government Fathi Pashagha sent a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in which he announced end of the UN mandate to determine the course of the elections.

"As Prime Minister of Libya, elected by the House of Representatives, I will lead all efforts to hold elections in Libya as soon as possible," Pashagha said in his letter, indicating that he had issued a road map for recovery, which sets out the priorities that will ensure the Libyan people the right to choose their own destiny, and ensure the security of the Libyan people and the road to economic prosperity.

He explained that the roadmap, the details of which will be announced in the coming weeks, shows the need to focus not only on elections but also on putting forward a multidimensional solution to the challenges facing Libya, stressing that it is time to find a Libya-Libyan solution, to hold elections, a plan that will also include reforms to ensure a standard of life that the Libyan people deserve and demand.

In his letter, Pashagha noted that Libya is going through a sensitive phase, and it is the duty of all leaders in Libya and around the world who believe in democracy, to work together to find a solution to the challenges facing the country, welcoming the participation of the United Nations in helping implement the roadmap.

"Although I welcome your participation and support, I am committed to a Libyan-Libyan solution and I am confident that in the coming months we will take great steps towards the parliamentary and presidential elections and implement the priorities set out in the roadmap," he said.
