Tripoli, 20June, 2022 (Lana) - United Nations Support Mission in Libya announced the end of the third and final round of negotiations of the joint committee of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State related to the Libyan constitutional track Monday.

According to the Adviser to the Secretary-General, Stephanie Williams, in a statement published by the mission on its official website, the joint committee achieved a lot of consensus on the controversial articles in the draft Libyan constitution, while differences remained regarding the measures regulating the transitional phase leading to the elections, inviting the two presidencies of the two councils, Parliament and the State to meet within ten days to complete the consultations in an agreed-upon place to overcome the outstanding points.

Williams stressed that the United Nations will remain committed to its support for all Libyan efforts to end the prolonged transitional stages and the instability that has affected the country, through comprehensive and transparent national elections at the earliest possible date in response to the aspirations of nearly 3 million Libyans who have registered to vote in the elections.
