Presidential candidates denounce Tripoli clashes, hail Salouq's statement, and stress completion of electoral process before year end.

Tripoli, 14 June, 2022 (Lana) - Candidates for the presidential elections denounced the clashes that took place in the near the city centre area of the capital, Tripoli, last Friday, and considered them an uncivilized and illegal phenomenon resulting from the absence of the state and the weakness of its institutions.

A statement signed by (25) presidential candidates, a copy of which was received by the Libyan News Agency, said: “We strongly condemn these uncivilized and illegal acts that led to terrorizing of citizens, and the security and stability of the capital as a result of the state of political statelmate, and the unjustified conflict that led to undermining the Libyans’ decision to self-determination in a peaceful and democratic way.

 Presidential candidates also hailed the statement of the Forum of Social Components issued in the city of Saluk al-Mujahidah under the slogan (Libya brings us together), calling on all Libyan women and men, civil society institutions, sheikhs and free men of Libya, and various media outlets, to support the brave statement of Saluk , which they described as expressing the aspirations of all Libyans.

The presidential candidates stressed the need to complete the electoral process and hold the first round of presidential and parliamentary elections before the end of this year, and to terminate all bodies without exception, restriction or condition, as soon as possible, in implementation of the aspirations of the Libyan people.

The statement concluded by emphasizing the unity of the soil, the sanctity of Libyan blood, the status and prestige of the state, and the fight against all forms of extremism and violence.
