Presidential Representative receives Italian envoy to Libya.

Tripoli, 12 June, 2022 (Lana) - Representative of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, received, Sunday, the Italian envoy to Libya, Nicola Orlando, and Ambassador, Giuseppe Buccino, to discuss developments in the political scene in Libya.

Vice President welcomed the Italian delegation, praising Italy’s role in supporting the political track in Libya, and its efforts to reach consensus among all parties to end the current crisis, stressing the importance of the success of all tracks, foremost of which is the meeting of the members of the joint committee of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State, in Cairo, in order to reach a consensual formula, to achieve the aspirations of the Libyan people in conducting the electoral entitlements, to cross over to a state of lasting peace in the country.

 In turn, the Italian envoy stressed the importance of continuing the political track in Libya, to hold presidential and parliamentary elections, according to a constitutional framework agreed upon by all parties involved in the political process, pointing to his country's support for the Cairo meetings, between representatives of the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of the State, to find a legal framework, in order to Organizing free and transparent national elections, the results of which are accepted by all, and lead the country to a stage of stability, peace and construction.

During the meeting, the Italian delegation praised what the Presidential Council had accomplished in the comprehensive national reconciliation project, stressing the council's role in maintaining stability.
