Williams stresses importance of maintaining calm in Libya.

Tunis, 8 June, 2022 (Lana) - The Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Libyan Affairs, Stephanie Williams, stressed the importance of maintaining stability and calm on the ground in Libya.

 This came during her chairing yesterday in Tunisia, in cooperation with France, the presidency of the plenary session of the Security Working Group for Libya, in the presence of all members of the Joint Military Committee "5 + 5" and the co-chairs of the group from the United Kingdom, Turkey, Italy and the African Union.

Williams described the discussions that took place during the session regarding monitoring the ceasefire and disarmament as valuable discussions. She stressed in her speech during the meeting the importance of ensuring the maintenance of stability and calm on the ground in Libya. The UN advisor congratulated the members of the Joint Military Committee (5+5) for what has been achieved so far in this direction
