Sirte, June 4, 2022 (LANA) - The head of the Libyan government, designated by the House of Representatives, "Fathi Bashagha", called for holding the presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously.

In a speech during his meeting today, Saturday, in the city of Sirte, with a group of dignitaries and people of Misurata, "Bashaga" renewed his commitment to holding parliamentary and presidential elections simultaneously in cooperation with the United Nations, considering that holding parliamentary elections only at this stage would lead to a "disaster in the country," as he described it.

Bashagha said, "We have followed the democratic path towards elections from the beginning. We have not resorted to wars, and we will not accept fighting in Libya. However, there are international parties that have rejected consensus because it resulted from Libyan parties without outside interference."

He explained that the step he took towards the brothers with whom he was quarreling is an important step and he is proud of it, noting that the international community was not satisfied with reconciliation with our brothers in the homeland and the Libyan-Libyan agreement.

Bashagha pledged to hand over the government to any other government or figure without delay in the event that the House of Representatives and the State choose this decision, in reference to the tendency of some that choosing another government is the best way out of the political impasse in which it is living in the presence of two governments.
