Rome, 4 June 2022 (Lana) Italian Interior Minister Luchana Lamorgese said that "the situation in Libya is special, there is no government with full powers, and it is a very difficult geopolitical situation.

  Italy's Aki news agency reported that Lamorgese was commenting on an incident in which a Libyan patrol boat opened fire at a Sicilian fishing boat on Thursday evening. "I know that our naval forces have intervened, these are sensitive situations that are being followed up and taken care of," Aki quoted the Italian minister as saying on the sidelines of an event in Venice on Friday. Sources in Sicily said a Libyan patrol boat fired at an Italian fishing boat belonging to the fleet of the port city of Catania as it sailed Thursday in "international waters north of Benghazi."
