Jerusalem, 29 May 2022 (Lana) - More than 1,000 Israeli settlers on Sunday stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied Al Quds ‘Jerusalem ‘through the ‘Al Maghareba gate’ under heavy guard from the Zionist occupation police, who closed the southern prayer area and surrounded worshippers and retreats inside.

The Palestinian news agency (WAFA) quoted local sources as saying that dozens of Israeli police officers had anticipated the settlers' incursions into al-Aqsa by taking positions in its squares, closing the southern prayer area with iron chains, and besieging worshippers inside.

The same sources indicated that the settlers broke into the courtyards of the Al Aqsa compound, in the form of groups, each group including 40 settlers, carried out provocative tours in its courtyards, performed for the first time what they called "epic prostration" in the courtyards of the mosque, and received explanations of the alleged "temple", particularly in the eastern region, opposite the Bab al-Rahma prayer area, the Dome of the Rock, and in front of the door Qattanin, one of the doors of Al-Aqsa, and were greeted by the steadfast Muslim worshippers by chants of Allahu Akbar.

The occupying forces arrested 10 young men from Al-Aqsa courtyards, at the Door of the Chain, assaulted the elderly Musa Hijazi and removed him from the mosque.

The occupying forces assaulted the youths in front of Bab Al-Qattanin in the vicinity of al-Aqsa Mosque, imposed strict measures on the entry of worshippers to Al-Aqsa, and prevented young men and boys from entering into the compound to perform dawn prayers, allowing only the elderly and those over 40 to enter.
