Williams: the joint committee of the House of Representatives and the State has reached a preliminary consensus on (137) articles related to the constitutional process.

Cairo, May 21, 2022 (LANA) - The Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Libya, Stephanie Williams, announced that the meetings of the joint committee between the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of State in Cairo reached consensus on a number of major issues related to the constitutional process.

 In her speech at the closing session of the Cairo meetings, Williams said, I was pleased that the joint committee was able to reach a preliminary consensus on (137) articles, and I was particularly pleased that you were able to agree on the second chapter on rights and freedoms, as well as the two chapters on the legislative and judicial authority. With the exception of a few items that do not exceed the fingers of one hand.

She expressed her respect and appreciation for the efforts of the members of the Committee in making tangible progress in these consultations, and continuing to jointly seek consensus and constructive solutions to the contentious points, and strongly urged them to continue the consultations to reach a final consensus on the remaining articles.

 "Williams" pointed out in her speech that the committee's work has not yet been completed, and we should always remember that the Libyan people look forward to this committee with many hopes and expectations that your work will lead to a complete agreement that will enable a comprehensive national elections as soon as possible that achieve aspirations of more than 7 million of your Libyan citizens who enjoy an internationally recognized basic right to go to the polls to elect their representatives in the presidential and legislative elections.
