Following meeting U.S. official in Tunis, Williams: We agreed on need for progress by joint committee of the House and the High Council of State on the constitutional track.

Tripoli, 15 May 2022 (Lana) Stephanie Williams, the UN Secretary General Adviser on Libya, met with Yael Lambert, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs at the U.S. State Department, while in Tunisia. Williams tweeted: "we agreed, during the meeting that the joint committee of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State on the constitutional process, which is scheduled to begin its second round of talks today in Cairo, should achieve tangible results). "We must respect the right of the Libyan people to elect those who will govern them democratically through the ballot box, and on the basis of a consistent constitutional framework," the UN envoy said in a second tweet, stressing the need to maintain calm in the country.
