Tripoli, May 09, 2022 (LANA) - A ceremony was held in Tripoli today, Sunday, for the inauguration ceremony of the "Development of Juvenile Justice in Libya" project, in partnership with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Justice, Social Affairs, the Social Solidarity Fund Authority and the Higher Committee for Childhood.
The project - which was established with the support of the European Union and the participation of the United Nations Development Program, UNICEF and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime - aims to find a qualitative leap in dealing with underage juveniles who have contact with the law and to create an appropriate structure with this segment within the fabric of Libyan society according to Legislation and national identity.
The project also aims to support policies and procedures that support the Child and Family Protection Units, develop and standardize their operational procedures, and coordinate with the Ministry of Justice to build a system to facilitate the referral of juveniles and the general objective of the project will benefit a wide segment of society.
