China's delegate, in a speech before the Security Council, calls for maintaining the ceasefire in Libya and overcoming differences.
Pulbished on:New York, April 29, 2022 (LANA) - China stressed Thursday the need to "preserve the ceasefire in Libya and overcome differences related to the legitimacy of the government through consultation and dialogue, and calm conditions for holding elections as soon as possible."
This came in China’s speech delivered by its representative before the UN Security Council during its session to discuss the developments in Libya, on Thursday evening.
In his speech before the Security Council, the representative of China called on the International Criminal Court to “respect the sovereignty in Libya” and be keen to “ensure stability in Libya.”
The representative of China said, "Despite the presence of China with the Rome Statute, but the International Criminal Court must respect the sovereignty in Libya," stressing that "the differences between the Libyan parties have increased, and the fragility of the political process has become clear," calling on all parties to "remain calm and exercise restraint."
