Stephanie Williams meets with German officials in Berlin to discuss developments in Libya.

  Tripoli, 23 April 2022 (Lana) UN Secretary-General Adviser on Libya Stephanie Williams visited the German capital on Friday for talks with German officials on the situation in Libya and steps that have been made on the Berlin track. She expressed satisfaction with Germany's support for the UN support mission in Libya.

The UN adviser: "I met in Berlin with Minister of State Dr. Tobas Linder and Andreas Michel, undersecretary of state, to brief them on the current situation in Libya, including results of the recent consultations of the Joint Committee of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State held in Cairo from April 13-18.

We agreed on the need for Libya to return the path of national elections within a strong constitutional framework and a fixed time frame. We also stressed the importance of maintaining absolute calm on the ground and working on all Berlin tracks, including security, economy, international humanitarian law and human rights tracks.

She concluded by saying: "I thanked my interlocutors for Germany's generous support for the UN's work in Libya."
