OHCHR praises the cooperation of the Libyan authorities and calls for fulfillment of Libyan aspirations for reconciliation.
Pulbished on:Geneva, 29 March 2022 (Lana) The report of the fact-finding mission in Libya, which is scheduled to be presented to the UN Human Rights Council during an interactive dialogue on Wednesday valued cooperation by those concerned in Libya with the fact-finding mission headed by Mohamed Oujar.
"The Libyan authorities cooperated well with the mission, including to facilitate the mission's fruitful initial visit to Benghazi in March 2022, where prosecutors share information about their investigations into certain events," the report said.
At the end of the call, several recommendations were made, including (strengthening Libyan institutions concerned with the rule of law by providing technical support for democracy and the rule of law, and extending the work of the fact-finding mission in Libya beyond the expiry date of its current mandate on 30 June 2022, enabling it to achieve its goals in particular to support Libyans in their aspirations for a transition to peace, reconciliation and accountability).
The UN fact-finding mission in Libya, formed under Resolution 39/43 of 2016, includes Mohamed Ogar (Head of Mission), Tracy Robinson and Chaluca Bayani.
