President of the Presidential Council discusses with the Minister of Economy and Trade urgent solutions to the rise in prices before the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, 27 March 2022 (Lana) The President of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al Mnefi discussed with Minister of Economy and Trade Mohamed Al-Haweij on Sunday ministry's measures to curb the hike in the prices of basic and food items in the local market.
Al-Mnefi discussed with Haweij the controls put in place to ensure lower prices, in coordination with the competent authorities, especially as the month of Ramadan approaches, stressing the need to speed up the granting of a cost-of-living allowance to citizens, to help them cope with the hikes during this month.
The President of the Presidential Council stressed that an appropriate mechanism to support food itmes, through a clear strategy, will be put in place to ease the burdens and expenses for Libyan families in all cities and regions of the country.
For his part, the Minister of Economy and Trade, stressed that the ministry will take all necessary measures, in coordination with the regulators and related authorities, to control the rise in prices in the local market, pointing out that the competent committees are working on the best ways to ensure the flow of goods, and provide them to consumers at appropriate prices.
