GNU Minister of Economy confirms government is in process for issuing cost-of-living grants to cope with price hikes during the month of Ramadan.

     Tripoli, 27 March 2022 (Lana) GNU Minister of Economy and Trade Mohammed Al-Haweij said the government is working in coordination with the relevant authorities to issue a grant of the cost of living to address the rise in prices during the month of Ramadan" and to establish a mechanism to support commodities.

 Al-Haweij said in a statement to the media that the Cabinet is considering approving a cost-of-living allowance of 300 Libyan dinars per person, to be spent twice during this year the first before the month of Ramadan and the second after Eid Al-Fitr.

The Ministry of Economy and Trade issued a decision to set the maximum prices of goods and food, setting the maximum price of a kilo of pasta at 3 dinars, rice at 3.5 dinars, cooking oil for 10 dinars, tomato paste for 3 dinars and milk for 3.5 dinars.
