Rome, March 20, 2022 (LANA) - Libya's ambassador to Italy, Omar Al-Tarhouni, denied that he had been suspended from work on charges of "abuse of power", against the background of accusations of corruption against him by the Audit Bureau.

In an interview with the Italian "Nova" news agency, Al-Tarhouni denied that he had been suspended from work, explaining that he had not received any official communication in this regard from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Al-Tarhouni explained that no bill was paid at the European Hospital in Rome due to the lack of funds, noting that there is a debt of 5 million euros to the European Hospital in Rome.

And some media and social media circulated, in the past two days, the news that the Audit Bureau had suspended Ambassador Omar Al-Tarhouni from work, based on the reports of the Examination and Review Committee, which stated that he had committed “violations and financial abuses that harmed public money.”
