 Tripoli, 19 March 2022 (Lana) The Head of the High National Election Commission, Imad Al-Sayeh, announced that the commission was ready to hold elections as soon as a political agreement is reached.

   He made the announcement during a meeting with US Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland, according to a tweet posted by the US embassy in Tripoli on Saturday.

  "It was encouraging to hear Dr. Sayeh confirm readiness of the National High Election Commission to hold the elections as soon as a political agreement was reached on moving forward," The U.S. Embassy's SMS page quoted Norland as saying after the meeting. The joint committee of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State, proposed by Stephanie Williams, to adopt a constitutional rule, represents the next practical step toward this goal, and we urge all parties to support this process," he said.
