Undersecretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs discusses with Executive Secretary of Cen-Sad resumption of work of General Secretariat
Pulbished on:Tripoli, 14 March, 2022 (Lana) - Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Mohamed Issa discussed with Executive Secretary of the Community of Sahel and Saharan States Brigi Rafini procedures required to resume the work of the General Secretariat of the Community from the Libyan capital, Tripoli.
Issa made it clear that Libya will spare no effort in providing support for the revival of the Community of Sahel and Saharan states and overcoming all difficulties and obstacles that hinder it from performing its duties.
This came during a meeting with Undersecretary on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Najla Al-Mangoush, at the Ministry's headquarters, Monday, the Executive Secretary of the Community of Sahel and Saharan States, as part of his visit to the State of Libya in the framework of making the necessary arrangements for the return of the General Secretariat of the Assembly to work in its headquarters in the capital, Tripoli soon. .
At the beginning of the meeting, the Undersecretary welcomed the Community’s executive secretary, conveying to him the greetings of the minister and her great interest in the return of the Community’s general secretariat to work at its headquarters in the capital, Tripoli, as she gave her instructions to harness all available capabilities to facilitate the return of the Community because of its importance.
The undersecretary made it clear during his meeting with the Executive Secretary that the return of the Community of Sahel and Saharan States is an important sign to the world that the State of Libya is witnessing a well-defined state of stability, especially since the group’s transition to work temporarily in N’Djamena was a result of the unstable situation that the country was going through in general.
Undersecretary indicated that the Government of National Unity directives and the minister's instructions refer to the need to work to provide all the necessary facilities for the return of the headquarters of the General Secretariat to work from Tripoli, hoping that the return of the assembly would be a new beginning to activate its important role in the regional and continental space, especially since the State of Libya had a primary role in its foundation in February 1998.
On his part, the Executive Secretary of the Community, thanked the Undersecretary for the warm reception and welcome, and that he sensed during his visit a strong desire from the Libyan brothers to return the role of the Community of Sahel and Saharan States for which it was founded, noting that the previous unstable conditions for which the decision was taken to temporarily relocate the headquarters of the General Secretariat to N'Djamena Expired.
Brigi Rafini confirmed that Libya is witnessing a stable situation at the present time, and there is nothing to prevent the General Secretariat of the Assembly from returning to its headquarters in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, and that the issue has become only procedural.
This meeting was attended by the Director of the Department of African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Al-Shaibani Abdullah Al-Shaibani, Director of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Department of the General Secretariat of the Community of Sahel and Saharan States, and several staff of the community.
