Pashaga: Our government's first task is to hold presidential and parliamentary elections.

Tripoli, 12 March 2022(Lana) the head of the government assigned by the House of Representatives Fathi Pashagha said on Friday that the first task of his government will be to hold presidential and parliamentary elections, rejecting what parties (he did not name) seek to hold parliamentary elections only.

 Pashagha added in a recorded speech, broadcast today on his official Twitter account, that his government can hold elections because it’s members can roam all of Libya and provide services to all its regions and extend its influence and control over all parts of it, stressing the inability of the Government of National Unity to organize any elections because it is confined to Tripoli and has no legitimacy as he put it.

  Pashagha revealed that there were political efforts by local and international parties to start a dialogue with the Government of National Unity, and have put forward initiatives which have been approved by his Government from the outset, stressing his government's readiness for any dialogue.

Pashagha said he and his cabinet are determined to take over their headquarters in Tripoli, and they will do so, and there will be no parallel government anywhere in Libya, but we will work in Tripoli soon, he said. He accused the Head of the Government of National Unity of closing the airspace and coastal road, to prevent him from entering Tripoli, and said (our government has been patient with these infringements and we have made contacts with ambassadors of several countries, to open the airspace and the coastal road, but those countries have not succeeded in opening the airspace.
