House of Representatives welcomes Egyptian-Saudi statement.

 Tobruk, 9 March 2022 (Lana) The House of Representatives on Tuesday welcomed the joint statement issued by Egypt and Saudi Arabia on the procedures of the Libyan Parliament as the elected legislative body expressing the will of the Libyan people, entrusted with enacting laws and granting legitimacy to the executive authority. In a statement posted on its SMS page, the House recalled the two countries' firm position in support all efforts to reach a Libyan-Libyan political solution, and to reject dictates and external interventions and emphasize the preservation of Libya's stability, unity and territorial integrity."

 The House of Representatives appreciated the firm positions of Egypt and Saudi Arabia in supporting the legitimate institutions elected by the Libyan people and their constant commitment to Libya’s security, stability and unity."

   Egypt and Saudi Arabia issued a joint statement on Tuesday evening, published by the official Saudi Press Agency at the end of a visit by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi's to Riyadh, during which they expressed their support for the measures taken by the House of Representatives as an elected legislature, expressing the will of the Libyan people, and entrusted with enacting laws, granting legitimacy to the executive authority, and exercising control over it.

"The two sides stressed the need to maintain Libya's stability, unity and territorial integrity, and stressed support of all efforts to reach a political solution (Libyan-Libyan) and withdrawal of foreign forces, mercenaries and foreign fighters within a specified time frame in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2570, the outcome of the Paris Summit, the Berlin II Conference, the Libya neighboring countries Mechanism, the Arab League and the African Union, the need for the joint 5+5 military commission to continue its work and the commitment of all parties to halt military actions," the joint statement said.
