Williams: I discussed with the Speaker of the House my initiative to establish a constitutional basis for elections.

Tripoli, March 7, 2022 (LANA) - The Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Stephanie Williams, discussed with Parliament Speaker Aguila Saleh, today, Monday, her initiative regarding the formation of a joint committee of the House of Representatives and the state to lay down a constitutional basis to ensure that elections are held as soon as possible. .

 In a tweet on her Twitter account, the UN official said that she agreed with the Speaker of the House of Representatives that holding the elections on time and on a sound constitutional basis is the best way forward and reflects the true aspirations of the Libyan people, especially the 2.8 million registered to vote.

The Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations expressed her aspiration to receive nominations from the House of Representatives and the State for the joint committee in the coming days, calling for calm and the importance of cooperation between Libyan institutions for lasting stability.
