Speaker of House of Representatives assures Williams of legality of procedures for forming the new government.

Al Gubba, 7 March 2022 (Lana) The Speaker of the House of Representatives Ageela Saleh discussed with UN Special Adviser on Libya Stephanie Williams in Al Gubba on Monday, developments in the political process in Libya.

During the meeting, the Speaker of the House of Representatives confirmed the legality of the measures taken by the House of Representatives, both with regard to the 12th Constitutional Amendment, the roadmap or the formation of the new government after the end of the mandate of the Government of National Unity on December 24th," said Hamid Al-Safi, Head of the Communication Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, in a press statement."

The Speaker of the House of Representatives also confirmed that these measures were carried out following the agreement with the High Council of State through the two committees formed by both houses, expressing his disapproval of interference in the resolutions of the House of Representatives, which he said were not subject of approval by any party."

According to Al-Safi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives thanked UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and his Adviser Stephanie Williams for their support of the Libyan-Libyan consensus.
