UN renews call to maintain the ceasefire-facilitated stability in Libya.

Pulbished on:

New York, 2 March 2022(Lana) The United Nations has once again called for the importance of maintaining calm and stability, which has already been achieved in Libya since the signing of the Libyan ceasefire agreement in October 2020.

"I think that agreement has had a positive impact on the humanitarian situation, and in this regard, we call on all actors to avoid any incitement to violence, hate speech and misinformation, a Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric said at the daily press conference Tuesday evening at the UN building.

Asked about the formation of a new transitional government headed by Prime Minister-designate Fathi Pashagha, putting the possibility of two rival administrations and a possible return to the conflict in Libya, and whether the Secretary-General had any comment, and on what Stephanie Williams is doing? Dujarric said:

‘The entire UN mission and Secretary-General Adviser Stephanie Williams continue to communicate with all Libyan parties, frankly it is clear that we are closely monitoring these developments because they are unfolding fairly quickly in Libya, and I believe with regard to the ownership of Libyan institutions for the ongoing political legislative process, as well as the need to ensure transparency of processes and decisions and commitment to the development of rules and agreements, and we reiterate once again the importance of maintaining the calm and stability that has already been achieved since the signing of the Libyan ceasefire agreement in October 2020 .’
