Following discontent on the Libyan street: The Foreign Ministry summons charge d'affaires of the Egyptian Embassy in Libya on what has been circulated in the Egyptian media which construed as disregard for Libyan sovereignty.

 Tripoli, 27 February 2022 (Lana) Foreign and International Cooperation Minister Najla Al-Mangush summoned the Charge D'affaires of the Egyptian Embassy, Tamer Mustafa, against the backdrop of what was circulated in the Egyptian media, which was construed as a disregard of Libya’s sovereignty and the Government of National Unity and the drawn similarity of what is happening between Ukraine and Russia with the relationship between Egypt and Libya. The Egyptian Charge D'affaires explained that the perpetrator did not represent the Egyptian Government's direction and positions on Libya. During the meeting, Al Mangoush stressed that the historical relationship between the two brotherly countries is bigger and deeper than any political trends or polarizations.

The statements circulated in the Egyptian media about Libya following the Russian invasion of Ukraine provoked a wave of resentment and anger in the Libyan street, reflected in the media sites, web pages which rejected such statements that flout the Libyan people and their sovereignty.
