The Cabinet offers clarification over Prime Minister's initiative on housing loans and health insurance.

 Tripoli, 20 February 2022 (Lana) The Cabinet Office in Tripoli on Sunday held a press conference to clarify the Prime Minister's initiatives announced on the 11th anniversary of the February 17 revolution on the granting of housing loans to young people and health insurance.

Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Adel Gumoa said at the conference that these initiatives complement the announcement announced by the Head of the Government of National Unity "Abdul Hamid Al-Dbeiba, at the celebration of the National Youth Day organized in the city of Al Khoms on the issue of the youth and the provision of services to citizens in general.

 He said the initiative involves public servants whose age range between 55 and 65 with health insurance, which the Health Insurance Fund has already begun preparing insurance cards and other measures in coordination with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance for Institutional Affairs.

He added that the initiative also aims to distribute housing loans to the youth, incomplete housing units and residential plots, pointing to the formation of a committee headed by the director of the Bank of Savings and Real Estate Investment, which will implement this initiative. On the implementation of these initiatives, the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs explained that the apartments targeted for distribution to young people do not include apartments previously reserved for citizens who have documents to prove their allocation, pointing out that the target for distribution are housing units that have been stalled for more than 10 years and have not been allocated previously.

Regarding the plots to be distributed to young people, the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs explained that the Ministry of Youth has worked to identify these plans in a number of Libyan cities and will be distributed to young people in coordination with the Urban Development Authority, which previously prepared these plans, pointing out that the Ministry of Youth and the Urban Development Authority has begun technical and legal procedures to implement the initiative, which will be implemented in stages.

The minister pointed out that the conditions required and how to deduct the value of the loans will be announced by the Savings Bank in the coming period, stressing that all loans announced by the Prime Minister are free of interest.

The press conference was attended by the Ministers of Housing, Youth and Local Government, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance for Institutions Affairs, the directors of the Savings and Real Estate Investment Bank and the Zakat and Health Insurance Funds, who will implement the initiative.
