Williams confirms its support for the Tuareg component and pledges to convey their concerns to the Libyan authorities.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, February 19, 2022 (LANA) - The Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations on Libya "Stephanie Williams" has expressed her full support for the Tuareg component, pledging to convey their concerns to the relevant Libyan authorities during their upcoming meetings.
This came during her meeting today with a delegation from the Tuareg component, according to tweets published by "Williams" through her account on the "Twitter" website.
"Williams" said that the meeting discussed the difficulties faced by the Tuareg component, including the difficulty of obtaining the national number, which prevented them from exercising their political rights, receiving the salaries of retirees, obtaining passports, or the ability to benefit from educational facilities and health care.
"Williams" added that Tuareg representatives raised concerns about their general feeling of exclusion from successive governments and stressed that this marginalization had an impact on reconciliation and stability in Libya.
Williams indicated that she noted during her meeting with the delegation that the road map approved by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum explicitly addressed the need to address this problem, thanks to the efforts of Tuareg representatives in raising awareness of their issues.
Williams also discussed with the delegation the extrajudicial detention of members of the Tuareg community by the authorities in eastern and western Libya, according to the tweet.
