President of the Presidential Council receives the Italian ambassador to Libya.

Tripoli, February 14, 2021 (LANA) - The President of the Presidential Council, "Mohamed Al-Manfi," received today, Monday, the Italian ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi, in the capital, Tripoli.

The meeting discussed the latest political situation in Libya, ways to develop Libyan-Italian relations, support the political track, and review the efforts of the Presidential Council to enhance stability in Libya, and the national reconciliation project.

At the outset of the meeting, the President of the Presidential Council congratulated the Italian ambassador on the occasion of the re-election of Sergio Mattarella as President of Italy for a new term.

Al-Manfi stressed the importance of consensus among all parties to the political process, and to benefit from the popular momentum for the upcoming elections, in response to the demands of the Libyans to exercise their right, noting that the Council is working with all parties to bring their views closer to the success of this stage.

For his part, the Italian ambassador expressed his country’s full and continuous support for the political path in Libya, leading to the parliamentary and presidential elections, stressing the need to preserve what the Presidential Council achieved in unifying institutions, and launching the national reconciliation project among the Libyan people, pointing to the importance of developing historical relations, linking Libya and Italy.
