The Arab League stresses importance of reaching a Libyan "political consensus" on next phase.

 Cairo, 14 February 2022, (Lana) Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Abul Gheit stressed importance of all Libyan parties working towards political consensus on the next phase as the real guarantee of maintaining stability in the country.

 An official source at the General Secretariat said, according to the League’s official website on Monday that "Abu Al-Gheit, "closely follows developments that are interacting on the Libyan scene recently, stressing the importance of putting the interests of Libya first, at this critical stage as he described it.

The Secretary-General stressed "the need for the international community to support everything that would strengthen the unity of the Libyan state, maintain stability, and to hold elections that would renew the legitimacy of institutions and reflect the free will of Libyans."
