Tripoli, February 12, 2022 (LANA) - United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that he had taken note of the vote that took place Thursday in the House of Representatives, in consultation with the High Council of State, to adopt the constitutional amendment and appoint a new prime minister.
In a statement published by the UN mission on its Facebook account, Guterres called on all parties and institutions in Libya to continue to ensure that such critical decisions are taken in a transparent and consensual manner.
He also called on all parties to continue maintaining stability in Libya as a top priority, stressing that the primary goal is to hold national elections as soon as possible in order to ensure respect for the political will of 2.8 million Libyan citizens.
