Pasha Agha, assigned by the House of Representatives to head the new government: I will present my government within two weeks. I commit to holding elections within “14” months from now.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, November 11, 2022 (LANA) - The Prime Minister-designate from the House of Representatives, Fathi Pasha Agha, presented his vision through which he will work to manage Libya's affairs in accordance with the road map approved by the House.
Pasha Agha said in an article published by the Washington Post on Thursday under the title "Paving Libya Forward" that he would present the new government within two weeks.
Agha added, "I accepted the support of my compatriots to assume the position of prime minister, and out of respect for the wishes of more than two million Libyans who believe that our country's path to democracy begins at the ballot box."
The new prime minister revealed his action plan: ensuring that the elections are completed no later than 14 months, “and this will be my single most important goal as prime minister,” explaining: “Our recent election process faced some security difficulties, including protecting citizens’ data. We must seek to address these and any other election-related concerns to give Libyans and the world confidence in the credibility of the upcoming election results.”
He pointed to the need to focus on serious issues in the sectors of health, security, energy and economy, combating the Corona epidemic, as well as reconciliation between "the citizens of our nation... to ensure the success of the electoral process."
Regarding his economic vision, Pasha Agha stressed the need to support the National Oil Corporation, and said that the corporation can increase Libyan oil and gas production and contribute to meeting the needs of the international market while increasing our national income and diversifying state revenues in the long term.
He also stressed the need to implement sound financial policies to fix the negatives of the past, “including supporting rational policies that increase purchasing power and provide liquidity in banks, and liberalize the economy to help our nation’s promising youth achieve their ambitions; And making sure that our state institutions provide services to our citizens, not just to our elite.”
Agha concluded his article for the American newspaper by saying, "When I formally present the new government as prime minister in two weeks' time, I will be able to do what is most important to support the Libyan people in their pursuit of a promising future and make sure that we build a stable and secure Libyan state."
