Tripoli, 7 February 2022 (Lana) Candidate to the post of head of the government Fathi Pashaga announced that he and members of his government will not run for the upcoming presidential elections, and his commitment to the government's deadline defined in the roadmap. This came at the session held by the House of Representatives in Tobruk on Monday, to listen what the candidate to the government Fathi Pashaga had to say about running the government, to get the endorsement of the House of Representatives in the voting session scheduled for next Thursday.
Pashaga affirmed that any minister in this government running for the next elections will consider him resigned in order to avoid use of influence, and that he and all other ministers will waive legal immunity so that the judiciary can investigate any figure in the government and block any official considered exploiting his job and taking refuge in immunity. In his presentation of his government's manifesto, the candidate for prime minister explained that the strategic basis of her work is political, not executive. Libya does not lack cadres or expertise, but political consensus on genuine national participation, he said.
He pointed out that the strategic goal of the government is to unify institutions, especially the military and the security apparatus, praising in this regard the distinguished role of the Commission 5+5 in order to unify the military, stressing that the basis of security and stability begins with the process of development, especially in southern Libya as it affects the rest of the regions. He explained that one of the strategic objectives of his government is to achieve justice in services and distribute wealth among all Libyans in all regions equally, and to work to protect the country's wealth from corruption, which he said "has become a dominant culture that threatens our future and society", and stressed the need to give the file of national reconciliation the utmost importance, pointing out that he can not achieve any achievement in this regard without the House of Representatives and the support of the Libyan people.
The House of Representatives on Monday voted unanimously on a draft roadmap drawn up by a House committee to hold presidential and parliamentary elections in no more than 14 months, to be presented to the Council of State.
