Tripoli, 2 February 2022 (Lana) The High Council of State called on the House of Representatives to cooperate to end the transition period, to go as soon as possible to referendum on the constitution and to hold elections, urging the House to "abide by what has been agreed" on the roadmap for the next phase.

In a statement regarding the roadmap, published on its official website on Tuesday evening, the High Council of State announced its refusal to "go down only on one track without other tracks" on which the two houses have initially agreed upon, as announced in the past days, considering that "continuing to do so is a unilateral move that is unacceptable and unworkable."

In its statement, the High Council of State explained the continuing communication between it and the House of Representatives at the level of the presidencies, or between the chairmen of the committees of the Council of State and the road map committee formed by the House of Representatives, and the "principled understandings" reached by the two houses "based on a clear basis, namely, going to parliamentary and presidential elections on the basis of a referendum on the Constitution, in accordance with the formula of constitutional amendment required to complete this entitlement, and to change the executive authority after the proposed constitutional amendment".

The High Council of State considered "what was issued by the House of Representatives in the last meetings, only to start the process of changing the executive authority, before taking practical and parallel steps on amend the constitutional declaration and moving towards a final agreement on the road map with its constitutional, executive, security and national reconciliation tracks, a radical violation," stressing its keenness to promote the supreme national interests.
