Foundation stone for Libyan Embassy building laid down in the Ethiopian capital, also to house headquarters of Libya’s permanent mission to the African Union.

   Addis Ababa, 2 February 2022 (Lana) The foundation stone for the Libyan Embassy building, which along with the embassy houses the headquarters of Libya’s permanent mission to the African Union, was laid down on Wednesday. The building will also house the headquarters of Libya’s permanent mission to the African Union. The event coincided with Libya's 13th anniversary of presiding over the African Union General Assembly meetings on February 2, 2009 and was attended by Foreign Minister Najla Al-Mangoush, the Director of the African Department, the Charge d'Affaires of the Libyan Embassy in Addis Ababa and members of the Libyan delegation participating in the meetings of the Executive Council of the African Union.

   During this ceremony, The Foreign Minister Al-Mangoush delivered a speech in which she stressed the importance of the presence of the Libyan Embassy and the Permanent Libyan Mission in Addis Ababa, the seat of the African Union and other regional offices and centers, praising the efforts of the African Union to achieve unity between African peoples and countries.

Al Mangoush said she was happy with what embassy staff were doing to strengthen relations between Libya and the Republic of Ethiopia, and the services the embassy provides to citizens.

      Libya is one of the founding countries of the African Union, where the first session of the African Union Assembly was held in July 2002.
