The United States condemns ISIS attack in southern Libya, reaffirms support for unification of the military.

 Tripoli, 29 January 2022 (Lana) The United States on Saturday condemned the terrorist attack carried out by the terrorist organization "ISIS" in southern Libya, which killed three security elements. It reaffirmed support for efforts to improve security in the southern region and unify the Libyan military.

 "We condemn the recent terrorist attack in the south and express our condolences to the families of the victims killed in the clashes, U.S Ambassador and Special Envoy to Libya Richard Norland said in a statement on Saturday. He reiterated his country's support for efforts to protect Libya's sovereignty by combating terrorism, improving security in the south and the border region, and unifying the country's military.

The Libyan Interior Ministry announced last Thursday that three members of its forces were killed in the southwest of the country, in an attack by ISIS gunmen targeting "a patrol of the Martyrs of Um Al- Araneb battalion, resulting in the death of three.

 The ministry said the attack took place 80 kilometers from the town of Al-Gatroun, 700 kilometers south of the capital Tripoli, adding that its security patrols were able to kill four members of the terrorist organization and destroy their vehicle.
