$5.7 million grant from NOC for treatment of children with cancer in Libya.

Tripoli, 27 January 2022 (Lana) The National Oil Corporation (NOC) on Thursday signed a cooperation agreement with the World Health Organization (WHO) to provide treatment services to children with cancer in Libya.

The agreement, signed by the NOC Chairman Mustafa Sun’Allah and WHO representative in Libya Elizabeth Hoff, aims to provide medicines and medical equipment to sick children in seven hospitals specializing in the treatment of cancer patients in Tripoli and Benghazi. Sun’Allah revealed that the value of the grant, to be provided by the NOC and its partners for this project is estimated at $ 5.7 million, to support children with cancer, pointing out that there are 772 Libyan children who will benefit from this humanitarian grant, according to the report of the World Health Organization.

Elizabeth Hoff, WHO representative in Libya, praised the agreement and said it was a pioneering initiative between WHO and its partners to give children with cancer in Libya a chance to survive, expressing appreciation to the NOC for its support in making the initiative possible.

 She stressed that the organization's presence in Libya aims to ensure that all people, regardless of who they are, and where they are, have access to basic life-saving health services, especially in times of crisis. The signing of the agreement was attended by representatives of the Partners of the National Oil Corporation, Namely Repsol, Total, Eni Energy and a number of directors of the NOC departments.
