UN Security Council to extend the mission of United Nations Support Mission in Libya.

  New York, 27 January 2022 (Lana) UN Security Council is expected to issue a resolution later Thursday extending the mission of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya.

 "The UN Security Council is extending its political mission in Libya until September 15, without taking a new position on the elections, which have been postponed indefinitely due to "deep divisions" among its members on the Libyan issue, AFP quoted council diplomats as saying. Britain has proposed a draft resolution to extend the mission of the UN Support Mission in Libya for another year, which stipulates that the Libyan authorities should take steps to facilitate presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible).

 The text, a copy of which was obtained by Agence France-Presse, called on UN member states to "stop all support for mercenaries in the country and withdraw them immediately, and that the countries of the organization should not interfere in the conflict."
