(Sanalla) briefs the designated Minister of Oil and Gas on the obstacles facing the sector
Pulbished on:Tripoli, January 26, 2022 (LANA) - The Minister of Oil and Gas in charge, Ali Al-Abed, discussed with the head of the National Oil Corporation, Mustafa Sanalla, today, Tuesday, in Tripoli, the obstacles facing the oil sector and ways to overcome them.
In a press conference after the meeting, Minister of Oil and Gas Ali Al-Abed said that the meeting focused on the problems and obstacles facing the Corporation and its subsidiaries, especially with regard to providing the necessary budgets and capabilities, especially in light of the recovery of production and the arrival of Libya to a level of production it has not reached since 2013.
Al-Abed stressed that the oil sector is a sensitive and strategic sector and is the pillar of the Libyan economy, praising the efforts of the Corporation and its subsidiaries in increasing production and export rates despite the difficult conditions that Libya experienced.
The meeting touched on the South Refinery, which was established by a decision of the Prime Minister of National Unity, and the minister said, "It is a popular demand for the Libyans in general and the people of the south in particular, and soon we will lay the foundation stone for it to provide fuel and other oil products in the south."
For his part, the head of the National Oil Corporation, Mustafa Sanalla, said that the meeting was important and encouraging, expressing hope that it would be a breakthrough and open a new page between the Corporation and the ministry and the beginning of a collective and joint work to solve the problems that the oil sector has faced for years.
Sanalla expressed his thanks for the decision taken by the Prime Minister in order to heal the rift between the institution and the ministry, work for the advancement of the sector and send a new message to local and foreign investors to invest in the sector, especially that Libya is a promising country in this field.
The head of the National Oil Corporation expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Minister of Oil and Gas Ali Al-Abed for his invitation to this meeting, stressing that there will be meetings in the coming period with the companies affiliated with the Corporation so that the Minister will listen directly to the problems and difficulties facing the oil companies.
