Libya's UN representative tweeted about his meeting Friday with Guterres.

    New York, 8 January 2022 (Lana) UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Libya's representative to the International Organization Al Taher Al Sunni held a meeting Friday with the UNSecretary-General Antonio Guterres.

 Al-Sunni tweeted: "I had an important meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, we discussed the latest developments in the situation in Libya and the challenges that prevented the elections from being held as scheduled on December 24th.

" "We stressed during the meeting the need for the United Nations to support the will of Libyans to determine their own destiny without any dictates and find practical solutions to the challenges of the democratic process and ways to reach a national consensus to get out of the current crisis and achieve stability and peace in the country," Al-Sunni said.

 For his part, the Secretary General stressed his personal interests and commitment to ending the current crisis and supporting Libyans' options for stability and peace.
