Global monitoring stations registered an earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale that hit the eastern Mediterranean region north of the city of Tobruk, about 275 kilometers off the coast of the city, and was felt by residents of Libyan and Egyptian cities. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 80 kilometers.
