Ankara, December 24, 2021 (LANA) - The Turkish Foreign Ministry called on the Libyan parties to act with a sense of responsibility, following the postponement of the elections that were scheduled for this December 24.

It said in a statement today, Friday, that the elections are an important turning point in the transitional process in Libya, stressing the need for the elections to be fair and independent and to be recognized by all parties in Libya, and for the government that will be elected to exercise its powers in the rest of the country.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry pointed out that for the safety of the brotherly Libyan people, there should not be a vacuum in legitimacy and authority in the country until a new government is formed after the elections, expecting all Libyan parties to act with a sense of responsibility and wisdom in this context.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry stressed that Turkey, which has deep historical ties with Libya, will continue its support for the friendly and brotherly Libya and its entire people without any discrimination at this important stage, and will also continue to contribute to the political path led by the Libyans under the auspices of the United Nations.
