The Petroleum Facilities Guard condemns the closure of the oil fields and calls on the protesters not to use it as a means of blackmail and pressure.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, December 20, 2021 (LANA) the Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG) denounced the closure of the oil fields and their use as pressure to achieve the demands, calling for the pumping of oil, and considering the negative financial and technical effects resulting from the continuation of the closure.
In a statement issued today, the agency confirmed that it had always worked to protect oil facilities and called for it not to be used as a means of blackmail and pressure, noting that oil and gas is the only resource for the national economy.
The statement stressed that closing the oil fields and facilities will harm everyone, which will result in a complete deficit in the state’s financial revenues and power outages for citizens due to the interruption of gas and liquid fuel supplies, as well as the shortage of fuel and other negative effects.
The apparatus called on the sit-in to give priority to the public interest and to use the legal methods to implement their demands, not through sit-ins and the closure of oil installations.
The National Oil Corporation had announced earlier today that the production of the Sharara, El Feel, Al Wafa and Hamada fields was stopped by members of the Petroleum Facilities Guard, which caused the loss of more than (300) thousand barrels, considering that the result of this closure is a waste of the country's wealth and its continuation is impoverishment for the Libyan people.
