Libya presides over meetings of Arab follow up Committee on implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals in the Arab region.

  Tripoli, 20 December 2021 (Lana) Libya chaired via video link the meeting of the Arab follow up Committee on implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals in the Arab region. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Taher Abu Al-Hassan, incumbent chairman of the committee.

 During the meeting, the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals in the Arab region was discussed, in the presence of the heads of Committees for Sustainable Development in the Arab Countries, as well as the participation of representatives of the Arab League, the League’s Department of Sustainable Development and International Cooperation, representatives of the United Nations, ESCWA and a number of international organizations and institutions.

 A number of resolutions and recommendations were adopted at the meeting regarding the initiative to eradicate hunger in the Arab region, and achieve sustainable development in countries affected by conflicts. The launch the Arab Network for Science and Technology for Sustainable Development was agreed to take place during the next Arab Week of Sustainable Development, which will be held in Cairo in February 2022.
