Arabic Language Academy in Libya celebrates World Arabic Language Day, Pays Tribute to the founder of the complex, Dr. Ali Fahmy Khsheim.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, 18 December 2021 (Lana) An event was held on Saturday to mark the World Arabic Language Day under the auspices of the Government of National Unity and the President of the Arabic Language Academy, Abdul Hamid Al-Herrama, Vice President of the Arabic Language Academy, Mohammed Mustafa Bin Al Haj, and a representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Omar Abdel Dayem.
The ceremony included screening a documentary on the stages of development of the Arabic language and its contribution to the development of education and scientific research in the era of the independence of the Libyan state, and what the Arabic language Academy has done and will do in this regard.
Dr. Abdelhamid Al-Herrama, President of the Arabic Language Academy told the Libyan News Agency that this day is an international day for the Arabic language celebrated by the world in accordance with the UN resolution on the adoption of Arabic as one of the six languages used by the UN, out of 7,000 languages worldwide. This is the language spoken by 400 million people and universities and research centers are interested in it, because it is the language of communication between the civilizations of the ancient world and the civilization of the modern era, which has transferred the sciences of the past to the present and therefore has enjoyed this status in the world.
The representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Omar Abdel Al Dayem told Lana "it is notable to say the least that on the International Day of the Arabic Language, some young men and women, albeit a few, tend to write creative, literary and poetic, which makes them interested in the language because it is the tool with which they seek their creativity, we look forward to further cooperation between the Arabic language Academy and the Ministry of Higher Education and scientific research, to find out some of the difficulties facing Arabic language students and come up with a unified vision, he said.
A number of seminars and panel discussions are to be held during the conference days, the most important of which is a scientific seminar on the founding President of the Academy, the literary linguist Dr. Ali Fahmy Khsheim, and the prospects of his cultural movement, as well as the establishment of a poetic evening.
