HNEC issues clarification on monitoring the electoral process.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, 28 November , 2021 (Lana) - The Board of the High National Elections Commission issued Sunday, a clarification regarding the exercise of the functions of monitoring the electoral process and polling centers.
The clarification stated that it was recently observed that some citizens practice the functions and work of monitoring and following up on the electoral process without any legal capacity that would entitle them to carry out such actions, which is a violation of the law and regulations that establish the implementation of an electoral process subject to international standards and principles governing it.
The commission explained that carrying out the investigation and interrogation process for members of the electoral centers’ committees and filming inside them without the fact that the party that carried out such practices is approved by the commission is considered
Violates the provisions of the regulations for media representatives attached to Commission Council Decision No. (35) of 2021 dated July 06, 2021, which clarifies the conditions and procedures approval of local and international media representatives, and clarification of their rights and duties to enable them to carry out their duties in accordance with the laws and regulations governing.
The commission stressed that the purpose of issuing these regulations is to add more transparency to the procedures and results of the electoral process, in a way that enables stakeholders to know their rights and duties and pushes them towards positive participation, focusing on the negatives and looking into mistakes, and if they are identified, they do not represent a significant proportion of the future that Libyans aspire to.
The Commission called on everyone to contribute to the achievement of this historic entitlement, to renounce violence, hate speech and sedition, and to spread a spirit of optimism and positivity.
