Pulbished on:The Libyan Presidential Council welcomed the consultations and outcomes of the Paris conference, praising the efforts of the international community at a time when its citizens are looking forward to charting the future of their country.
In a statement it issued on Saturday, the Council said the Paris conference, which concluded it’s a couple of days ago, comes at a critical time when its citizens are looking forward to lasting stability in which they enjoy security, a decent life.
The council stressed the importance of holding simultaneous parliamentary and presidential elections, to achieve a comprehensive electoral process to enhance the chances of building trust between all parties.
In its statement, the Presidential Council appreciated the efforts of the High National Election Commission to make the electoral process a success and looked forward to further efforts to alleviate the suffering of displaced persons by opening easily accessible polling stations.
The statement praised the efforts and results of the work of the Joint Military Commission 5+5 and its tireless steps to develop a comprehensive plan for the complete withdrawal of all mercenaries and troops from Libyan territory.
The presidential council's statement stressed the importance of international efforts to help secure and monitor the electoral process and provide the technical and logistical support needed to protect it.
The presidential council stressed adherence to achieving comprehensive national reconciliation socially and politically in order to unify the country and turn the page on the past.
