President of Presidential Council meets UN Under-Secretary-General in the presence of the Special Envoy to Libya

Paris, 12 November 2021(Lana) President of the Presidential Council Mohamed Al-Mnefi met at his residence in Paris Friday morning, the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Rose Marie, in the presence of the Special Envoy to Libya, Jan Kupis.

The meeting focused on the presidential and parliamentary elections, and a sustained withdrawal of mercenaries and foreign fighters from the country.

Al-Mnefi stressed the need for all parties to fulfill their obligations, including holding elections on set time, ensuring that their result are accepted, and mercenaries and foreign fighters expelled.

He expressed hope for success of the Paris conference and urged all parties to agree on a road map that would take the country to safety.

For her part, "Rose Mary" appealed to the President of the Presidential Council to continue work, to create consensus among all parties, and said sup[port would continue to be provided to the Presidential Council and the (5 + 5 Committee) until the exit of mercenaries and foreign fighters from the country.
