Tripoli, November 11, 2021 (Lana) - The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid al-Dabaiba, accompanied by the Minister of Local Government, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, the Director General of the Municipal Guard and a number of officials, toured a number of markets, food stores, bakeries, butchers and pharmacies in Tripoli to determine directly the prices Goods, merchandise and medicines related to the citizen and his purchasing power in light of the record increase in prices for some of them.

During the tour, the Prime Minister met with a number of citizens and inquired of them about prices in general, especially basic food staff, who expressed that there is no equivalence between real prices and selling prices in some materials.

The Prime Minister called on the law enforcement agencies to carry out their duties in apprehending the violators and refer them to the competent authorities.

The Council of Ministers of the Government of National Unity issued Resolution No. 537/ 2021 stipulating the exemption of imported food commodities from taxes and fees established in the customs tariff, in the context of encouraging import tools to increase their imports of food commodities, raising the level of strategic stocks and the necessary needs of the local market and covering the demand for goods.
