Minister of the Interior holds talks with his Maltese counterpart in Valletta.
Pulbished on:Valletta, November 10, 2021 (LANA) - Minister of Interior "Khaled Mazen" met today, Wednesday, his Maltese counterpart, "Byron Camilleri" in the Maltese capital Valletta.
The meeting was attended by Adviser to the Maltese Minister of Interior "Ryan Spaniol", Director of Intelligence "Joe Poggia" and Vice-President of the Army "Mark Malia" and from the Libyan side, Director of the Minister's Office, Brigadier General Noureddine Abu Geraidah, Dr. Balnour, head of the Libyan mission in Malta, and the Libyan consul.
The media office of the Ministry of Interior said that this visit comes as a continuation of the talks between the two sides that took place in Tripoli last April.
It added, that the two sides stressed, during the meeting, the importance of joint security cooperation between the two countries and its development to serve common interests.
It was agreed to form a joint committee from both sides to develop the appropriate executive mechanisms to define specialized training courses for coastal security personnel in the areas of diving, rescue and boat maintenance, activating the Operations Coordination Center, and enabling representatives of the two ministries to carry out their duties in a way that ensures unification of efforts in combating illegal immigration and smuggling across the sea and securing direct contact to exchange information, in addition to working to expedite the establishment of a private school for demining in Tripoli.
