Attorney General follows up complaints of university faculty on settlement of their remunerations.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, 10 November , 2021 (Lana) - Attorney General Al-Siddiq Al-Sour met, Tuesday, with the Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Finance, the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and the Dean of the University of Tripoli, the Syndicate General of university faculty members, and directors of the financial departments of the Ministries of Higher Education and Finance. and University of Tripoli.
The Attorney General praised the efforts of university faculty members over the past years, despite the circumstances the country is going through. He stressed that he is following up the strike of university faculty members to protest against the Ministry of Finance's failure to pay their financial dues in accordance with the decision issued by the Presidential Council.
He also indicated that he is following with interest the ongoing investigations with the knowledge of the Public Prosecution regarding the facts on which the complaints of the faculty members at the Universities of Tripoli and Misurata emerged.
For their part, the Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Finance, and the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, explained that the failure to implement the decision that the faculty members demanded to be activated is caused by the obstacles that prevented this, especially the universities’ failure to meet the requirements of conformity, classification of degrees and determining teaching and research hours.
In this regard, the Attorney General emphasized that freedom of opinion, individual and collective expression, assembly, demonstration, and peaceful sit-in are among the guaranteed rights when they do not conflict with the law.
